The turning of a single line shaft draped with endless pulleys in early 1907 was the beginning of the Granite Mill tradition. Founder F.R. Sandberg and associates spent many cold mornings starting the line shafts so that “The Mill” could produce the highest quality millwork for the community. Horse-drawn wagons delivered load after load of planed lumber and finished woodwork, often traveling as far as 80 miles from the first plant located in the Granite district of Salt Lake City, UT.
Contrasting to the original Carlos Steam Engine that drove the line shaft, Granite Mill now enjoys a state of the art facility with computerized machinery and equipment, but we have never forgotten the importance of dedicated, highly skilled craftsmanship which has defined Granite Mill’s reputation for over a century.
Our work can be found in monumental, institutional, religious and residential buildings throughout the U.S. Probably unforeseen by Frederick Sandberg four generations ago, the traditions of excellence in millwork and architectural casework live on today at Granite Mill as one of the oldest family owned and operated mills in the United States. We strive each day to stay true to our founder’s legacy of excellence and remain the best at what we do.
I’m gone to tell my little brother, that he should also pay a quick visit this webpage on regular basis to obtain updated from most recent news.
